After Ascot's Qipco British Champions Day, it is time again to look to the future and Sunday's action features some choice German juvenile fillies in Baden-Baden's G3 Preis der Winterkonigin. Manfred Anton Schmelzer's Noble Heidi (Fr) (Intello {Ger}) caused a stir when beating the subsequent G3 Prix Thomas Bryon runner-up Homeryan (Fr) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) by five lengths in a mile conditions race at Chantilly on Sept. 12 and understandably occupies favouritism. Gestut Auenquelle's unbeaten Reine d'Amour (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}) has course form, having taken the seven-furlong G3 Zukunftsrennen also on Sept. 12, while Dr Alexandra Margarete Renz's Marlar (Ger) (Kallisto {Ger}) also boasts a perfect tally and is unexposed. She beat the re-opposing subsequent Sept. 27 Listed Winterkonigin Trial scorer Peaches (Ger) (Lord of England {Ger}) on debut at Hanover on July 25 before following up in a valuable auction race over seven furlongs at Dortmund on Sept. 20. Peaches was giving five pounds to Dr Christoph Berglar's Amazing Grace (Ger) (Protectionist {Ger}) when beating her by 3/4 of a length in Cologne's Winterkonigin Trial and on level weights should confirm the form in a fascinating race for the title of “Winter Queen”.
